SJM reaps rewards at 2015 HIA Award night

SJM wins HIA awardSJM Carpentry & Building has received recognition for its building excellence at the recent 2015 HIA-CSR Awards night.

The SJM team won 'Lightweight Construction Housing Using Sheet or Board Materials' for a river house with a difference and a commendation in the ''Renovation/Addition Project $200,001 - $350,000' category. This project involved turning a small Mid North cottage into a contemporary and stylish home for its owners, who were thrilled with the result.

"We would like to thank you for the work you have done on our home," wrote Kathy and Brian Sandercock. "It has been a long time in the planning with many ideas and designs being rejected so we could incorporate the old building.

"It would have been a lot easier to bulldoze and start again but I think the final design has worked and we are extremely happy with the results."

SJM's dream team

SJM’s team of professionals take the worry and guesswork out of renovating or building a new home.

clare builder, mid north, south australia, project managementFrom the design to sourcing materials and bringing it all together on site, SJM gently guides its clients through the building process.

The project management team includes project manager and interior designer Hayley Hennessey, site supervisor Paul Sandy, construction coordinator Bec Reynolds and Sophie Willmott at SJM’s front desk.

As SJM’s project manager and interior designer, Hayley Hennessey turns client ideas and inspiration into a workable concept, helping to choose colours, finishes and the overall look within budget. Together with Sophie, Hayley creates a selections booklet to help clients visualise their home, room by room. With years of experience in design, Hayley takes the guesswork out of everything from cabinetry to colour choices. For regional clients, this means less time spent researching and sourcing materials and products in Adelaide.

Site supervisor Paul Sandy takes clients from the design phase to the building site, where he coordinates all trades and ensures construction is in line with the plans, specifications and building code. Paul brings 30 years of experience in carpentry to his site management role.  As construction coordinator, Bec works in conjunction with Paul, ensuring materials and supplies are on site on time. She also liaises with suppliers to access costings and work to a client's specifications.
